President's Message
October 1, 2007Congratulations… October 29th marks the completion of the largest CPIM class in several years. Seventeen participants successfully completed the Basics of Supply Chain Management instructed by Art Salt and Rick Leach. Congratulations to: Larry Shore
– Microsoft Licensing Many class members will continue on in the CPIM series with Master Planning of Resources beginning November 12th. More congratulations… - To the Northern Sierra Chapter’s Vice-President of Finance, Linda McNeil for completing her CPIM certification. Linda is with IGT. - To chapter member and instructor Rick Leach on his recent election to the position of District Manager of APICS’ Pacific Western District. Rick takes office January 1, 2008. He will be overseeing chapter operations in Northern California, Northern Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska, and Hawaii. Two Northern Sierra Chapter members were in attendance at the recently-completed APICS International Conference in Denver. Alan Easley (Sierra Pacific) and Toby Eck (Calculated Industries) participated in this terrific three-day learning event. CPIM is coming to Carson City… Those in Carson City, Lyon County, and Douglas County will have the opportunity to attend a CPIM course without driving to Reno. The Basics of Supply Chain Management will be presented at the High Tech Center in Carson City beginning February 4, 2008. Details are available in the Events Calendar on the website. Two new features at Professional Development Meetings… - The APICS Business Card Network is an electronic networking tool. All participants’ business cards are combined and scanned. Everyone receives an electronic image of the cards of all those choosing to participate. - Electronic PDM evaluations. The old paper evaluations have been replaced by a brief (two-minute average completion time) web-based survey emailed to attendees the day after the PDM. The response rate was nearly 100 percent in our first electronic evaluation. That’s great. Feedback remains very important to us. This is (hopefully) a more convenient and meaningful way for our participants to provide input. David Steiger, CPIM
