Congratulations…
To chapter members Carson Schott (Cooper Industries) and Jim Cole (IGT) for achieving CPIM Certification. Both members passed their final certification exam on June 14th.
The Northern Sierra Chapter now boasts 36 members with CPIM Certification.
A new year…
The chapter operates on a July 1 – June 30 calendar. Some facts about the chapter as we begin the 2008-2009 year:
The chapter has 151 members from 58 different companies. IGT has the largest number of members with 51. Cooper Industries (Reno) has the second largest membership with 7. Three companies have six chapter members: Server Technology (Reno), GE Energy (Minden), and EE Technologies (Reno).
Recent new members are from IGT and LSP Products (Carson City).
The chapter’s board of directors is an all-volunteer group of ten with members from IGT, CEVA Logistics, and Management Assistance Partnership.
The chapter will again be offering the full series of five CPIM Certification courses in the coming year. 78 students attended courses in 2007-2008.
We’ll also continue to offer monthly Professional Development Meeting September through May (except December) with plant tours during the summer months. 363 people attended these events last year.
APICS is in the process of introducing the Lean Enterprise Workshop series. The Northern Sierra Chapter plans to present this timely and very-well designed series. The series consists of seven four-hour modules. We hope to offer the workshop before the end of 2008. Both the newsletter and the website will carry updated information.
