Lean Enterprise Workshop

APICS is putting the finishing touches on a new educational offering: The Lean Enterprise Workshop is a seven-session series that is a comprehensive look at the Lean philosophy and the Lean transformation process. Session topics include: Lean Culture, Value-Stream Mapping, Stability and Process Improvement, Measuring, and Sustaining. The Northern Sierra Chapter is making plans to offer this excellent series later this year. We’ll publicize the details as they are finalized.

Congratulations...

... to the eight professionals completing the Strategic Management of Resources CPIM course instructed by Tony Trexler, CPIM. Three class attendees have completed all five CPIM classes in the past year: Jim Cole (IGT), Matthew Tomich (LSP Products), and Jeremy Roth (IGT). Also completing the Strategic Management course: Stacie Farrell, Carson Schott (Cooper Industries), Stephen Hybil (IGT), Cornelius Rivera (IGT), and Michael Wickman (IGT).

More Congrats...

… again to Matthew Tomich. Winner of the Northern Sierra Chapter’s student scholarship for 2007-2008.

Congrats and thanks…

… to Ed Miller. Ed has agreed to join the chapter’s Board of Directors as Vice-President, Finance.

And, to Amanda Giambastiani, who is joining the Board as the Vice-President, Administration. Both Ed and Amada are IGT employees.

Networking Opportunity

The chapter is working on putting together a professional association networking event. The concept is to invite the leadership and members of local professional associations to a low-cost evening of networking. The associations would each have a chance to describe their function and mission and the members would have an opportunity to learn about the various associations and network with other professionals. The event, if it does come to pass, would take place at The Atlantis on September 9th. We anticipate a selection of appetizers and a cash bar. More to come.
