PATRIOTISM, PICNICS & PLANT TOURS
July is right in the middle of summer, and is the month of Patriotism and Picnics nationwide. It’s also a Plant tour month for our local APICS chapter. Here in the Northern Sierra we can look forward to sunny skies, warm weather, and very little rain – just right for picnics in our parks and lakes and for watching fireworks at night. And we also look forward to interesting and varied plant tours offered at local operations businesses – just the right break from our professional dinner meetings held in the fall and spring. We hope to see any of our existing or new members at EE Technologies on Tuesday, July 14.
July is also the time of year when our board of directors transitions, and along with that comes strategic planning. One part of our mission statement is “to be the premier provider and area leader . . . in education of integrated resource management.” With that in mind, one of our goals for the upcoming year is to “train our trainers”, so we can provide excellent instructors for our CPIM classes and also some new, shorter classes that we would like to offer. For instance, we have a 4 hour workshop on Distribution Inventory that will be presented during the coming year. I invite any of you who may be interested to contact us if you would like to share your knowledge and skills as a teacher.
During June several of our board members attended a Leadership Training weekend in Sacramento, joining the other 18 chapters from the Pacific Western District of APICS. We came away with new ideas about providing information to our members, and we look forward to using these technologies with our chapter in the fall. Watch for our chapter links to social networking sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn.
